Patrick Gallagher, Chief Executive of CitySprint, presented at the UK's first Home Delivery Conference which was organised by MetaPack in response to its successful user conferences in 2010.
Patrick Gallagher, Chief Executive of CitySprint, the UK's largest privately owned SameDay Distribution company, was invited to present at the Metapack Home Delivery Conference at Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London. The event, which took place on Thursday 17th February 2011, was the UK's first Home Delivery Conference and was organised by MetaPack in response to its successful user conferences in 2010 where it became evident that retailers wanted an event focused on home delivery. At the event, which was free for retailers to attend, attendees were able to listen to presentations from industry partners, learn about new products and services and meet with their peers to discuss industry developments. The Conference provided useful advice for retailers interested in improving their despatch and delivery.
During Patrick's presentation, entitled 'Responding to consumer delivery demands', Patrick discussed how online consumer delivery demands are changing with over 43% of regular home shoppers stating that the delivery experience and delivery options could influence their choice of retailer.
Patrick went on to explain the challenges faced by retailers with regards to responding to consumer delivery demands - such as delivery convenience, delivery reach and technology intergration - and how CitySprint is well positioned to tackle these challenges head on and deliver customer satisfaction by providing flexible and convenient delivery options across the UK
CitySprint's initial offering to the retail sector, was launched in 2009 in partnership with online retailer ASOS.com. CitySprint's infrastructure allows retailers to offer a SameDay service and evening service, 7-days a week including Bank Holidays, for deliveries within and around major conurbations throughout the UK. CitySprint is currently working with a number of different retailers who are keen to offer their customers this leading-edge delivery choice.
CitySprint's unique national network, comprising of 31 wholly owned ServiceCentres and fleet of over 1600 couriers (who are uniformed, security checked and drive branded vehicles), is one of the key reasons it is able to offer such a viable service offering. During the presentation Patrick demonstrated this by explaining to attendees what their customer base reach would be with CitySprint:
- 30 minutes from CitySprint's ServiceCentres covers 49.9% of UK population
- 45 minutes from CitySprint's ServiceCentres covers 65.1% of UK population
- 60 minutes from CitySprint's ServiceCentres covers 84.3% of UK population
CitySprint's UK delivery footprint is vital in providing a scale of coverage for the retailer's clients, offering effective supply chain solutions with the ability to minimise delivery time windows by being in close proximity to distribution centres or store outlets.
Other key factors include CitySprint's investment in technology such as a recent upgrade of mobile data hand-held units that enable generic barcode scanning. This offers full chain of custody for the Retailers goods throughout the delivery process. The retailer can effectively utilise CitySprint as extension of their service offering.
