London 2012 Olympics Statement

London 2012 Olympics Statement

As a British business with headquarters in London, CitySprint is excited and proud that our Capital is hosting the Olympics in 2012. We also recognise, however, that the event is likely to have an effect on businesses with extra consideration for road usage being necessary. With this in mind, we have already set up an internal team to plan for this extraordinary event, to ensure we can minimise the impact on our services and continue to respond effectively to our customers during this period.

Specific information regarding road closures etc is, as of yet, unavailable. We can however, confirm that CitySprint is engaging with all relevant bodies to ensure that we stay abreast of information relating to London, and also other Olympic sites throughout the UK, and will endeavour to update you as soon as relevant information becomes available. We are also now liaising directly with Transport for London in regard to our own specific requirements and hope to have our preliminary continuity plans available for our customers very shortly.

Communication Measures
Planning for an event like the Olympics is a continuous process, as more information becomes available to us through the official channels, such as Transport for London. In the SameDay courier and distribution market, the nature of our business is very fluid, which enables us to be extremely flexible but also means that we cannot predict daily workloads with complete certainty.

Therefore, we have decided that in advance of the Olympic Games, we will be putting certain measures in place to enhance communication during the event, with both our customers and our personnel, to ensure that we are all as well prepared as possible every day.

  • Daily traffic alerts will be emailed to all of our customers to indicate any road closures that will be in place and to identify any traffic hotspots etc.
  • Daily briefings for all of our operations and control teams so that they are fully aware of potential traffic issues to enable them to manage all collections and deliveries in the most efficient way.
  • Live updates via our GPS data units, CityTrakkers, to all our Couriers working in London and the other affected areas to keep them up-to-date with the latest traffic alerts etc.
  • All couriers will be in full uniform and their vehicles fully liveried. They will all be carrying ID badges as normal.
  • We will ensure that we have sufficient operations staff available by limiting annual leave during this period and by recruiting in advance to cover any absences.

Throughout the whole process, we will be liaising with our customers. If and when you have any information on how the event could affect your business, then please contact us at london2012@citysprint.co.uk so that together we can build a specific contingency plan for your business.
